2012 Accomplishments
December 1, 2012

Thanks to all the hard work of a very dedicated group of volunteers, Sail Cape Cod was able to achieve some very positive accomplishments in 2012 as an organization:

  • Assisted the Town of Barnstable Recreation Department/Kennedy Memorial Sailing Program in preparation, repair and commissioning their entire sailboat & support boat fleet for their program use in 2012. Work included bottom-painting all boats, replacement of a damaged mast and having all sails repaired
  • Purchased and installed Prop Guards for the KMSP safety boats for the protection of the students in the program
  • Received a donation of (2) used O'Day Daysailers from Arey's Pond and are preparing them for use in 2013
  • Developed the Sail Cape Cod Community Sailing website:
  • Hosted Sail Cape Cod booths at both the Cape Cod Boatbuilders Show and the Cape Cod Maritime Festival to increase awareness of Sail Cape Cod and its mission
  • Enlisted the technical/professional assistance of U.S. Sailing (the national authority for sailing) in the development of this community sailing program
  • Attended U.S. Sailing's National Sailing Programs Symposium(January), and their regional Community Sailing Symposium(October)
  • Received its 501(c)(3) non-profit designation from the IRS (December)
