Cape Cod Tech graduate in Marine Technology. Associates Degree from Cape Cod Community College

“I have many fond memories of going out on my grandfather's charter boat as a kid; whether it was fishing in Cape Cod Bay, beaching the boat on the sand bars off Brewster, or just watching the sunrise during an early morning haul of the lobster pots. From these early impressions on my life, I went on to attend Cape Cod Tech in Harwich, where I studied Marine Mechanics. It was as a result of this education, that I eventually made my way to the Yarmouth Sailing Program. I may have had a passion for the sea before, but I now knew my true love, sailing. The past three years at Yarmouth sailing have truly been the greatest of experiences, with the greatest of people (after all, it are the people that make such things as sailing so great). It is with this in mind, that I am truly excited to now be working with the Sail Cape Cod Program and its team! “

“I began sailing when I was 4 years old and haven't looked back since. At the age of 14, I became an instructor and that has been one of my summer jobs for the past 8 years. I graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 2011, where I was on the varsity sailing team for 4 years and had the honor of captaining that team for 3 of those years. After graduation, I attended Norwich University where I played both basketball and rugby, and was the captain of the basketball team my senior year. I graduated from Norwich in May of 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences. Currently I am studying to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island with an anticipated graduation date in May 2018. Aside from my passion for sports, what I enjoy most is spending time with family and friends. I am excited to combine my love for sailing with my physical therapy background, to make each day a little brighter for someone else!”

“I started sailing at 9 years old and have been instructing since age 16. I have spent every summer sailing and sailed for a season on my high school's team. I graduated Newton North High school in the Spring of 2012 and I started at Merrimack College that Fall. I have been studying Human Development and Elementary Education and will graduate in May. I am planning to work in an Elementary school next year and go to grad school for something in the Special Education field. Besides sailing, I love to ski, be outdoors and spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy helping people and watching them succeed.”

Treasa Casey, Senior Sailing Instructor

Sailing has since become incorporated into many aspects of her life, including many vacations and summers with family and friend. Treasa has even incorporated sailing into her academic life, with her sailing-themed college acceptance essay and her involvement as both skipper and crew in the Rutgers University Sailing Team this past year, with whom she attended all of the regattas in the fall and spring semesters and became Treasurer of the club sport team. Aside from sailing, Treasa can be found playing her cello, reading at the library, or with her two younger sisters. She is looking forward to expanding her horizons this summer by joining the team at Sail Cape Cod!

Patrick Stevenson, Sailing Instructor - Adaptive Program

Certified Professional Ski Instructor of America- Adaptive

Boating Safety Certificate, CPR & First Aid Certified

"I grew up spending every Summer on the Cape, and I can't imagine life without the ocean. From fishing to sailing with friends, I did everything I could to spend as much time as possible in the cool sea breeze. When I started high school, I had the opportunity to start sailing competitively, which I have really enjoyed. In the Winters, I get to explore another passion of mine: adaptive skiing. I began skiing when I was 4, and over the past several years I've joined an adaptive skiing program called New England Disabled Sports (NEDS). I consider myself very fortunate for the opportunity to work with the incredible individuals who, despite their physical or cognitive challenges, still get out on the slopes skiing. NEDS has shown me how much outdoor recreation can impact people's lives. I am a strong believer in the power of being outside and staying active. I look forward to being able to combine my passion for the water with my passion for adaptive sports!"
